Architectural Modelmaking
Jovin Lim Modelmakers provides design and construction services for physical three-dimensional scale models. Our studio will take your project from conception to installation, with fabrication of most components being completed in-house.
We are equipped to construct a range of highly detailed architectural models from conceptual massing models to competition quality models. Whether your project be for design development, development approval (DA), city planning or sales and marketing, we will work with you to explore and manifest your designs with a model that exceeds your expectations.
Our team will first reconstruct your design in our modelling software to ensure the most efficient and sturdy construction, working with you to ensure all important design elements are represented. Once the model has been designed, we begin construction of the model. Having one of the most well-equipped modelmaking workshops in the country, every one of our models is made right here by our own hands.
Model Add-On’s
We can provide optional features necessary for the transport and display of a model. This includes display plinths for the model to sit on, which may also have cabinets underneath for storage, or spaces to incorporate features such as touch screens, acrylic covers, acrylic balustrades and travel cases.
We also offer repair and cleaning services of existing models.
Model Lighting
Whether you want your model to be lit entirely from within with a simple on/off switch, or need a comprehensive custom-tailored software solution to enable you or your clients to identify and illuminate individual rooms, we are able to cater to every situation.
Other Creations
In addition to our architectural work, we are also happy to work in the construction of a wide variety of other models and related creations including, but not limited to, museum dioramas, art pieces, model railways, miniatures, mechanical interactives, prototypes, retail displays and more. We are excited at the prospect of working on new and different things so if you have a project in mind, please contact us to discuss it.
We have a particular interest in creating props and set pieces for production designers working in film, television and theatre, and so encourage any interested parties to contact us directly.
Fabricate
We are proud to bring the digital fabrication expertise of Jovin Lim Modelmakers to other makers, architects, students and the general public with our new venture, Fabricate.
We offer small batch laser cutting and engraving of a wide variety of materials. Fabricated components are able to be shipped Australia-wide or picked up by appointment from our studio in Port Kennedy.
In addition, we also offer a Maker Service to help other makers realize their designs with the complement of our combined equipment and expertise. Our workshop boats current CNC technology including routing, laser cutting and 3D printing as well as facilities such as a walk-in spray painting booth, vinyl cutting, welding, electronics, mouldmaking, casting and a full woodworking shop.
